Located in rural Appalachia, we are proud to be part of the economic revitalization of our region.  Our wood shavings become bedding for chicken and substrate for local mushroom producers, our drops are crafted into cutting boards and other distinct value added products.  We strive to promote the ideals of a small, family owned and managed business, dedicated to community, environment and honorable business practices.

Material Choices/FSC Lumber

All the wood used in the Enviro-Build shop is sustainably sourced - sometimes even hand-milled by our team from down trees in the local area. Sourced wood is purchased from American manufacturers that offer FSC certified options.  Global species are held to the highest standards of procurement, and we utilizes reclaimed lumber when/where possible.

Low VOC Paints and Finishes

One of the more difficult components to be environmentally conscious in the craft of woodworking is with painting and finishing. Despite the convenience of conventional wood finishes and paints many times they are considerably toxic to humans, animals, and our ecosystems. Enviro-Build is uncompromising in its use of zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints and finishes, non-toxic ingredients, and where possible - oil or water based products.

All of this ensures a finished product that is both durable, beautiful, gentle on the environment, and safe for you and your family to enjoy for years to come.

Reuse of Waste Material

At Enviro-Build pieces of material that are left over from other projects are stored and repurposed into products such as cutting boards and other value added products. This practice ensures the most efficient use of shop time and materials.
